Memphis -part 1 - Graceland (Wed 10th Oct)

Woke up early, showered & dressed and caught a taxi to Graceland.  Visited the mansion, then went back across the street to where the other exhibits and shops are. Went through Elvis Presley's Automobile Museum, the Lisa Marie & Hound Dog II planes, bought some stuff, then went through the ICON: The Influence of Elvis Presley exhibit and then walked over to Graceland Crossing and had some lunch. After lunch I visited the Elvis on Tour exhibit, the '68 Special exhibit, bought some more stuff and then went outside & waited for the shuttle to Sun Studio.  Got to Sun Studio & wasn't that impressed, couldn't be bothered going on the tour either so I walked back to the hotel.  Got back to my room & sorted through what I had bought - 1 sweatshirt, 5 t-shirts, 4 magnets, 1 tin of mints, 1 dvd special edition & 1 dvd box set.  I have no willpower!!  But I know how to stop buying stuff - stay in my hotel room.  LOL  I had picked up some brochures of things to do in Memphis and looked through them to see what I might like to do the next day.  Also updated my blog then watched some tv, and yet again fell asleep with the tv on. It's just like being at home.  LOL

The entrance to the Graceland Exhibits & shops, not the actual mansion itself.
Going up the drive of Graceland mansion.
Just inside the front door to the right - the main sitting room.
The dining room.
The kitchen.
The bar in the downstairs tv room.
The tv room downstairs.
The pool room downstairs.
Part of the main lounge or the 'Jungle Room' as it has been renamed by visitors.
Outside by the office looking back at the house.
Elvis & Vernon's office.
Back in the main house & the room before the trophy room.
One of Elvis's guitars custom made for him.
Part of one side of the 'Trophy Room'. Was completely full of trophies & gold records & platinum records & Grammy's & all sorts of other trophies.
The black leather outfit Elvis wore for the '68 Special recorded at CBS.
Another Elvis outfit.
Across from the house is the racquetball court Elvis had built.
Part of the racquetball court - the curtains cover a glass wall of the court.
Inside the court itself. Since his death it has been turned into an exhibit of all sorts of stuff.
Side wall, above the exit doors.
Other side wall.
Wall above the entry to the court.
Close up of one of the cloaks.
One of Elvis's outfits.
Detail on the suits are amazing.
Outside the racquetball court is one of the horse paddocks, no horses tho.
The grave sites (after I had been past them).
Back across the road to the other exhibits. First was the 'Elvis Presley Automobile Museum'.
One of the many items on display in the automobile museum.

The 'Lisa Marie' plane.
Inside the 'Lisa Marie' plane - it was awesome. First was the main lounge area.
The conference room on the plane.
The secondary lounge area.  The sofa against the wall actually turns into a bed!
And at the back - Elvis's bedroom & bathroom.
Entrance of one of the other exhibits.  I didn't take any more photos after this as there was just too much, and some of it wasn't Elvis stuff.
